About WDC

WebDrivenChurch.com began as a blog in February 2006 and was meant to capture my thoughts, inspiration and ramblings about web technology in the church.

Over time it has continued on target with just a bit of my personality thrown in from time to time. At Granger, there is a constant stream of inquiries coming in through WiredChurches.com related to the way we do church. Because of this WDC is where I can explain some of the things we do here and then make it available for anyone to view at any time.

In October 2008 WDC went from being a simple blog to a website with blog functionality. This allows me to continue blogging, but with the freedom to try some new stuff.

Hope you like it!

About Daryl McMullen

Daryl McMullen | Picture taken for Innovate08The Important Stuff:

  • I'm a Christ follower.
  • I get to be married to Tammy - the best thing that ever happened to me.
  • I get the be the father of three amazing kids: Allison, Rachel and Tyler.

The Rest of the Story:

In a previous life I worked in the mental health field as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I worked with individuals/families in the outpatient setting, inpatient hospitalization setting and everything in between.

While doing this I picked up web design as a hobby. Over time my interest grew and I was encouraged by a close friend to use these "gifts" to help the church.

In 2004 I began serving as a volunteer in the Communications Department at Granger Community Church. For two years I helped keep the websites running as the church readied itself to launch completely redesigned versions of their two websites.

In 2006 I was asked to join the team full time and serve as Web Director.

Today I work with an incredible team of dedicated professionals. We cast vision for, maintain and oversee all aspects of both gccwired.com and wiredchurches.com. And in recent days have been able to take on shorter term projects like popgoesthechurch.com and thirtyonepress.com.

I also get to do fun stuff on the side like freelance web projects and amateur digital photography and HD video.
