Services
In 2006 I began taking on freelance projects as time permitted. Here's why:
- First, my position at the church allows for some design work and creativity but tends to focus more on project management and big picture stuff. Small side projects allow me creative freedom in chunks that are short and concise.
- Second, by doing smaller projects from the ground up I'm able to keep up with changing technology and stay sharp with my html/css/javascript skills. It also forces me outside my linear box and stretches my design abilities.
Here's What I Do Regularly:
- Small, lightweight websites that don't require heavy programming.
- HTML/CSS Layouts (with flash, photo galleries, calendars, forms, etc.)
- Video on the web (able to set up progressive downloads and offer consulting and best practices when it comes to streaming video).
- Podcasting/Vodcasting.
- Consulting (related to web strategy, design and site architecture).
Limitations:
- Like everyone else in the world I have a million things going on at once.
- I can't take on every project. Because of this I typically choose projects from people I know or work on projects that interest me because of content or scope.
- Consulting is typically by phone or email - though face to face consultation is possible if set up far enough in advance (due to travel considerations).
